Broken Head Productions
Founded by Clare Sladden in 2017, Broken Head Productions creates female driven, thematically resonant stories that connect with audiences on an emotional level, and adhere to best practice storytelling.
Responsible for each of Clare’s three short films—whose festival runs all include Academy accredited festivals—Broken Head Productions also produced Clare’s award-winning web series, Freudian Slip, which was nominated for a 2018 AWGIE and has over 400K views on Youtube.
In 2020, Broken Head Productions teamed up with Brisbane-based Loveology Films to produce Winding Road, an Audible Original narrative podcast starring Yael Stone, Dacre Montgomery and Noni Hazlehurst. Broken Head Productions recently received funding through Screen Queensland and Stan to develop Clare’s half hour comedy/drama series, The Lead.
Clare Sladden
Clare Sladden is a Meeanjin/Brisbane-based writer with a passion for female-driven stories. Her credits include NCIS: Sydney (ESA & Paramount+), Eden, (Every Cloud Productions & STAN), the Wentworth spin-off podcast (Fremantle Media & Audible), and Winding Road, a narrative podcast funded by Audible and Screen Queensland which Clare wrote, directed and co-produced.
In 2020, Clare was selected for the prestigious SPA Ones to Watch program — in 2021 she was chosen as the successful participant of Screen Queensland’s ‘Bradford Winters Lab’, a program specifically designed to facilitate emerging showrunners — and in 2022, Clare was named on Inside Film’s ‘Rising Talent’ list.
Most recently, Clare worked as a staff writer under American showrunner John Quaintance on his series Good Cop/Bad Cop (Jungle Entertainment & Future Shack for the CW, Roku & STAN). She also wrote on Sunny Nights (Jungle Entertainment & Echo Lake Entertainment for Stan) and has been awarded Screen Australia development funding for her feature Sophie Next Door, which she’ll write, direct and co-produce.
